Annotation:
Product- and industry-specific information you can also get from
Chinese associations of the different branches of industry. Contact
addresses are available from CCIT. Economic and financial studies
are also often available from major Chinese banks such as Bank
of China, Bank of Communications, China Construction Bank, Industrial
und Commercial Bank of China and People’s Bank of China.
Official Chinese statistics are available, for instance, in the
form of national and regional statistical yearbooks. However
these statistics often contain contradictory data. The lack of
reliability of Chinese statistics may be caused because the responsible
authorities often tend to keep secrets; furthermore the methods
of calculation and evaluation may differ quite a lot from region
to region, from period to period and from office to office. Therefore
the calculation of statistical data is quite hard to comprehend
for foreign analysts.
